Dayton boot leather

At Dayton, we make our boots with the highest quality boot leather. Up to three-times as thick as the leather used by others, Dayton's boot leather moulds to your foot for superior comfort and durability.

Tanning

One of the most important steps of preparing leather is the tanning process. Tanners put the leather into drums with the new oils, preservatives and coloring and let it tumble for hours. Many leather manufacturers turn out more leather by reducing the required tumbling time. This means the oils and dyes do not fully penetrate the leather. Although the leather treated this way looks the same on the outside it can often crack and tear.

Full grain leather

There are four grades of leather from the cheapest to the most expensive: bonded leather, genuine leather, top grain leather and full grain leather. Full grain leather is the best leather money can buy. The name comes from the top layer of the hide which has all the grain. The natural surface of full grain leather burnishes and gains character with use.

The best leather

Dayton sources boot leather from the highest quality tanneries, supplying full grain leather tanned with high-grade oils and preservatives to keep it from being destroyed early by dryness and moisture. Our choice of leather ensures that our boots last for a lifetime.[gallery link="post" ids="3169,3178,3171,3170,3176,3203,3173,3172,3175,3174"]
